The Vittorio Branchizio S/S 2017 collection is all about Metamorphosis and confirms his research on knitwear in terms of transformation and experimentation.
Garments undergo a reinterpretation thanks to a play of layers and weaving techniques. Fabrics are knit and assembled with technical detailing – including compositions where colors and geometrical hand-painted designs blend to form three-dimensional textures.
“METAMORPHOSIS, intended as the transformation of a garment, is the name that I wanted to give my collection and installation. I have studied the effects, which are obtainable on fibers, focusing on two different techniques creating garments that could transform. The first is the overlapping of three cotton textures which feature woven floating silk linen and cotton yarns, while the second is a woven pattern composed of a thick yarn hemmed in an extra fine yarn.”, says Vittorio Branchizio.
The natural color of the fibers comes to life thanks to a pictorial finishing with a corrosion technique then partially hand painted. The installation created in collaboration with the two artists Uros Mihic and Simone Fantoni, looks to express the overlapping and lightness that characterize the collection.
For the paintings on the collection, designer Vittorio Branchizio has renewed his collaboration with artist Sergio Perrero.
